Beautiful Hair Extensions for Weeks
I have worn hair extensions in my head for many years, no one ever told me the proper way to care for my hair extensions. My hairdresser would say after installing my sew-in extensions “ok see you in two weeks, make sure you come back to get your extension wash.” Thinking to myself, of course I will be back in two week you know how much money I spend on purchasing and paying to get my extension put in. One thing I did learn was washing your extension is especially important in helping maintain it shine and to remove built up oil from using all the hair spray and oil screen during the week. After washing several youtube videos of the best hair care routine for extensions, I decided to take matters into my own hands and do my own research on how-to proper care for hair extensions. I wanted firsthand experiences on what products work best on hair extensions and what products you should stay away.
It is extremely important to take care of your hair extension because they can damage your real hair and your hair extensions will not last as long as they are supposed to without a good hair care routine.
How do I wash my hair extensions?
You should only wash your hair-extensions with sulfate/paraben free shampoo. I found a shampoo with all-natural ingredient called Black Curve. Black Curve deep moisture shampoo is a gentle foaming oil-infused shampoo that helps stimulate hair follicles, detangle curls, control frizz and add shine to dull, and limp hair and it's safe for color treated hair. You do not want to infuse your hair extensions in bleach or salt water. These solutes strip your hair extensions of its natural oils.
How often should I wash my hair extensions?
You should wash your hair extensions every one to two weeks. Treat your hair extension as your own hair. If you wash your hair extensions too often, they will become dry, tangle, and will start to shed causing your extension to thin out.
Do I have to condition my hair extensions?
Yes, hair extensions are investments, which means you need to take proper care of them. Like all hair types, conditioners replenish hair and restore protein to hair follicles. I used a Black Curve Hair condition on my hair extensions. Black Curve natural hair condition helps stimulate hair follicles and leave your hair extensions non-oily, moisturized, and weightless
